“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again?” (Matthew 5:13)
Some stories, paintings, songs, and words have captured beauty in extraordinary ways, enriching the earth’s narrative with more life, more color, more flavor, and more depth. Each has contributed yet another piece of evidence that a Great Artist has been on the move once more, who signs His work, and leaves pieces of Himself for us to discover as we follow.
The Salt Compass is a collection for those coordinates, those lampposts, mirrors, treasure maps, and ancient tomes that have recorded and revealed The Artist’s fingerprints for others to find, enjoy, and admire. It also serves as an outlet for me to leave signposts of my own where I have stumbled upon enchanted woods full of His footprints or caught glimpses of His hand at work myself. I love that we all find different pieces, and I love highlighting those who have been brave enough to mine deep, and contribute to the masterpiece He is forging, the beauty every artist longs to unveil.
Here’s to the creators and dreamers and writers and thinkers who have pointed me True North with their craft. You have taught me so much, and I am so grateful. You have made this adventure brighter and aligned my compass more times than I can record here, though I will try my best anyway.
