One: It reminds me of a worship song that is absolutely beautiful.
“There may be pain in the night, but joy comes in the morning. And when the oceans rage, I don’t have to be afraid, because I know that you love me, and your love never fails.” – “Your Love Never Fails”, Jesus Culture
Jesus asking questions creates some of my favorite bits of scripture, partly because the concept makes me smile. Jesus? Asking questions? It just sounds funny, because He’s Jesus. What could He possibly want to know that He doesn’t already? But I think that’s the point. Continue reading →
I am finally back at my computer. It seems like I’ve been away a lot longer than two weeks, but perhaps that’s because I hadn’t touched my computer at all for most of that time, which was strange after so much time Continue reading →
It took me five hours to wake up today. One more time for the people in the back: Five hours. I woke up at 8:15 without an alarm and wandered downstairs for breakfast. Somewhere in the back of my mind I remembered Continue reading →
First blog post as I am back in the States for the summer! Woot woot! *happy dance*
May I just say, that the weather is absolutely lovely here in Western North Carolina. My absolute favorite place at home is the back porch that overlooks the back yard and surrounding mountains. In the morning if I can time it right, I can catch the fog retreating back away from Continue reading →
It was bright, sunny, AND warm this past weekend. Hello shorts and hello summer! Despite it being Saturday, I managed to roll out of bed at 8:30 and it wasn’t actually painful (I know right!? I almost high-fived myself). Now I’m pretty sure (okay 100% sure) that this was because my motivation was meeting up with some friends for coffee, because not much can get me awake at that hour on a Saturday, but that day the early morning alarm Continue reading →
In all honesty, I’m finding it really difficult to be content where I am at the moment. Laziness and lethargy all too easily creep into my mindset along with the knowledge that, “I really should be studying right now.” And that gets me daydreaming Continue reading →
How often do we overlook the divine and miraculous simply because we know where it came from?

Happy Thursday. This is the third time I’ve woken up in my new house. My family just moved about twenty minutes away to Clyde from Waynesville where we originally arrived in North Carolina, and so far I’ve discovered there’s little that’s better than sitting with my morning cup of coffee in front of glass doors that look out over the back porch and rolling green hills. I have to admit, sometimes the state of the hearts and minds around me in the world discourages me. A few weeks ago we were doing an exercise in our script writing class about themes. It was close to the deadline for our submission and we had to go around and summarize our project in one word, giving the overall theme of the story. The teacher said, “When people walk out of the building after seeing this what are they going to say it was about?” Continue reading →
