Delectables: Round #3

Delectables are: Cherry-Picked for Wonder and Revitalization. Soul Food and Spa. A Breath of Fresh Air with vitamins and other thought-provoking nourishments.

A digital care package of some of my favorite things that I hope brightens up the four walls you have been hanging out in during these crazy times.

Tyler Staton’s most recent sermon series “A House of Prayer in Brooklyn” from Trinity Grace Church, NY

I’ve enjoyed listening to the Trinity Grace Church podcast in general, but this sermon series has been phenomenal, particularly the one on Confession and the one about Joy. And well, all of them really. If you’ve got some spare time at home, which a lot of people do right now, and you want to listen to a series that will get you excited about prayer, and study it from all the different angles, this is the series to listen to.

Andrew Peterson reading aloud the Wingfeather Saga on Facebook

This has been one of my family’s favorite things right now. Andrew Peterson has been going live on Facebook every night at 8pm EST to read aloud his first book in the Wingfeather Saga, On the Edge of the Dark Sea of Darkness. This saga is on my list of five-star favorites over on the Bookshelf, so if you haven’t checked them out yet, hop on over to his Facebook page and check out the videos. He just finished reading the first book last night (4/4/2020), but you can always go and check out of the videos on his Facebook page and catch up before he starts book two, North! Or Be Eaten, the Monday after Easter (4/13/2020). This is a quality, family-friendly adventure that all ages will enjoy, and he does all the voices as he reads it which makes it even better.

Voltaire-Quote

Life Is A Shipwreck...

I saw this quote somewhere online over the past few days, and I loved the message it conveys. Things have been absolutely crazy on a global scale, and it’s easy to overlook some beautiful things in the midst of all this mess.

So consider this a little reminder that it is perfectly okay to smile and laugh and have fun before you have all the answers and before the mess goes away.

John Krasinski’s Some Good News YouTube channel

A friend sent me the link to this video the other day, and I loved it. In a time when it seems like all the media is focused on fear and bad things happening, it is so cool to see so many people shout to the masses, “BUT THERE IS STILL GOOD GOING ON.” This is one of those. (I also loved all of The Office memories and references they talk about in this video, ‘cause, The Office, duh.)

Check it out if you haven’t seen it already.

Coffee Shop Vibes

I recently pulled together a list of some of my favorite tunes over on Spotify that create a coffee shop-ish atmosphere in my office at home while I get some writing done, because I really miss being able to go sit in an actual coffee shop.

I am by no means an expert at compiling songs, but I’ve found myself putting these on repeat while I scribble away in a notebook lately and thought maybe others would enjoy them too. If you enjoy acoustic covers and slow, relaxed songs, give this playlist a listen with me.
